Christmas 63 - Flamings
Don't remember much about these early years, but here is proof that I was really enjoying Christmas at the age of five!
-
Christmas 71 - Rogers
Christmas on Laura Hill Rd in St. Peters, MO. We were allowed to look but never touch the presents prior to opening them. We all looked forward to Christmas morning when the gifts were distributed, but no one was allowed downstairs (from our upstairs bedrooms) until Dad or Mom put on the record that played the song, "Better get up, get up you sleepy head; better get out, get out, get out of bed..." At that point, all ten of us kids hit the staircase at the same time, tumbling down the stairs to be greeted by the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, our traditional Christmas morning breakfast.

Christmas 72 - Rogers
Steve, Teresa, and Larry decorating the tree, an event we all very much looked forward to a few days before Christmas.

Christmas 76 - Rogers
Christmas with relatives in Nebraska.

Christmas 78
This was Gwen and my first Christmas together. We were in Chicago enjoying one of the worst winters they had had for a long time!
-
Christmas 79
Our second Christmas was spent in Monte Carlo Monaco, where we had started serving with TWR. We found the little tree at a market and garnished it with pop-corn strands and home made stuff.
-
Christmas 80
Christmas 80 was spent on Bonaire where my parents and brother were living at the time. Uncle Bobby sure seemed to enjoy his nephew Nic and of course it was Nic's first Christmas as part of our family.
-
Christmas 81
We were staying at the missionary trailer at Hope Bible Church during these days. You can see that Nic is soon going to have a baby brother to play with. Phil joined us two weeks later.
-
Christmas 82
Grandpa and Grandma Rogers sure seemed to enjoy all the grandkids, including Nic & Phil.
-
Christmas 83
This was our first Christmas as a family living on Bonaire. We were living in Tera Cora during these first years and had a really nice place and yard. The boys had a great time growing up there.
-
Christmas 84
Nic was attending Dutch pre-school, and of course enjoyed the Dutch tradition of St Nicolas en Zwarte Pete
-
Christmas 85
This was a very difficult time for us with Gwen's knee problems. We were in between surgeries at this Christmas time and staying with her folks. We weren't sure if we would be able to return overseas or not. Gwen spent the time doing some baking as usual and enjoyed the opportunity to work with Mom on making a ginger bread house.
-
Christmas 86
We had to get in the traditional Flaming Family Christmas walk, even though Gwen couldn't manage on her own very well at this time. No problem - Dad had a wheelbarrow and I was still young and strong. Gwen got to take a front row seat as we enjoyed our family tradition together with Dad, Mom and Bobby Flaming.
-
Christmas 87
We were on our way to Sri Lanka after serving on Boanire for almost five years. We enjoyed the holidays in the Netherlands with our friends JW and Lili Van Der Kouwe.
-
Christmas 89
We spent this holiday at the top of the world - at least in Sri Lankan terms. We stayed at the Farr Inn on Horton Plains at about 7,000 feet. We were with our good friends the Waynes and Doug Gregson.
-
Christmas 90
We enjoyed Christmas this year at our Tickle Road home in Colombo Sri Lanka
-
Christmas 92
We were living on Wijamawa Mawatha by now and again we enjoyed our family time very much together.

Chrstams 95
Another TWR Sri Lanka Staff Christmas party. This year Santa was Mark Blosser.
-
Christmas 96
We left Sri Lanka in December 96 not knowing where our next assignment was going to be. We enjoyed Christmas with both sides of the family. Here we are at the Flaming Christmas celebration with the Horsburgh cousins.
-
Christmas 97
Our first Christmas in Singapore. Our staff was very small to start with and we had fun times together in those days. Here Gwen is doing some Christmas cookies with Susan, wife of our co-worker Sebastian Chan, and their daughters.
-
Christmas 98
Nic was away at college in the States and wasn't able to come home for the holidays. Phil enjoyed a lot of time on the computer.
-
Christmas 99
This year Nic was studying in Singapore and Phil was at college in the States, but he was able to join us for the holidays.
-
Christmas 01
Gwen finally got her train set she had been waiting for for so long! The Flamings were celebrating Christmas on Bonaire, but Nic & Phil couldn't get off work, so Gwen and I left Bonaire early and joined them in Cary for Christmas.
-
Christmas 04
We joined my sister Saralyn May and her family in Melbourne Australia for Christmas 04. We enjoyed the summer weather and then went up to the Grampians which were a bit cooler.
-
Christmas 05
Phil was back in Singapore for another year of college and we enjoyed having him and Logi here for Christmas and a number of games of Settlers.
